Resume Workshop Pro is no longer available through ValuSoft. You may find a copy online, but the manufacturer has discontinued technical support.

Feature Set:  

Resume Workshop Pro has some standout features, including 10,000 different resume examples, 3,000 descriptive phrases if you can't find the right words yourself, and the resume software will help you find the contact information for more than 11,000 large companies.

A few features that Resume Workshop Pro is missing include an interview simulator, the ability to import previous resumes, cover letter examples and a thesaurus.

Ease of Use/Installation:  

During the installation and setup of Resume Workshop Pro, an error message popped up that stated we did not have a registration code with the right permissions. After uninstalling and reinstalling the program, the error remained. We finally figured out that Resume Workshop Pro was having conflict problems with some of the other software that installed on the computer. We had to uninstall six different programs before we could get Resume Workshop Pro to work.

Resume Workshop Professional wasn't as easy to use as we anticipated. The opening screen has three steps (see screenshot 1) and the wizard walks you through all the steps to complete your resume, but we felt the screens were cluttered.

Edit/Organization Tools:  

Resume Workshop Professional includes a good variety of editing and formatting tools, but we couldn't find examples of cover letters anywhere in the program. If you don't know how to create your own cover letter from scratch, cover letter examples are quite helpful. Also, Resume Workshop Pro has no thesaurus.

Customer Service:  

ValuSoft did not respond the first time that we contacted them. When we purchased their software, we didn't receive it until three weeks after the sale.

After we received Resume Workshop Pro and failed to get past the error message when we attempted to set it up, we emailed ValuSoft for help. This time we received an email response, and were able to set up the program.
